About the role
An independently owned small-animal hospital in Oakland County, Metro Detroit, is hiring an Associate Veterinarian, full-time or part-time. Doctors here have a real say in how medicine is practiced. Cats are seen in their own exam rooms away from dogs, and the team uses low-stress handling.
What you'll do
- See small-animal general practice patients in 30-minute appointments
- Examine, diagnose and treat, and handle preventive care and client education
- Do surgery and dentals if you want to; a surgery morning is about three procedures
- Work 34 to 40 hours a week full-time, including one or two Saturday mornings a month of your choice
- Pick your days: the biggest need is Mondays into the evening, Tuesdays and Wednesdays
- No Sunday hours and no on-call
What you need
- A DVM or equivalent degree
- An active Michigan veterinary license, or eligibility for one
- At least one year of small-animal general practice, including medicine and surgery
- A realistic daily commute within Metro Detroit
What's offered
- $120,000 to $140,000 base for full-time, depending on experience and schedule
- ProSal: a guaranteed base plus 20% of eligible production, reconciled quarterly, with no negative accrual; straight salary is possible too
- Part-time schedules, paid by the days and hours you work
- 100% employer-paid medical, dental and vision insurance for eligible full-time doctors
- Continuing education allowance and dedicated CE time, with license fees and professional dues paid
- 401(k) and paid time off
